<p>I picked up quite a few books when I was in Texas at <a href="http://www.halfpricebooks.com/">Half Price Books</a> and other places. </p>
<p>Technically, I have already finished the one on the top, <a href="http://www.amazon.com/Gentlemen-Road-Adventure-Michael-Chabon/dp/0345501748">Gentlemen of the Road.</a> It is a cool adventure novel and was originally going to be called J<em>ews With Swords.</em> It was fun to read and also had a neat little map on the endpapers, so you can remember where the hell <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Khazaria">Khazaria</a> is. </p>
<p>I am almost all the way through the brilliant <a href="http://www.amazon.com/Elements-Cooking-Translating-Chefs-Kitchen/dp/0743299787/ref=pd_bbs_sr_1?ie=UTF8&#038;s=books&#038;qid=1199421346&#038;sr=8-1">Elements of Cooking</a> by <a href="http://blog.ruhlman.com/">Michael Ruhlman</a>. I guess you could say it&#8217;s a sort of MLA handbook for French Cooking written out like a glossary.</p>
<p>The <a href="http://www.amazon.com/Zen-Fish-Story-Samurai-Supermarket/dp/0060883502/ref=pd_bbs_sr_1?ie=UTF8&#038;s=books&#038;qid=1199421753&#038;sr=1-1">Zen of Fish</a> looks promising. I guess it&#8217;s all about sushi and where it all comes from. </p>
<p>Next in the stack is a <a href="http://www.amazon.com/Paul-Renner-Typography-Christopher-Burke/dp/1568981589/ref=sr_1_9?ie=UTF8&#038;s=books&#038;qid=1199421846&#038;sr=1-9">book</a> about the German type designer <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Paul_Renner">Paul Renner</a>. </p>
<p>Sitting on the bottom is a nifty little book about old menu design. fun!</p>
